The Secret Ingredient of Dividend Growth Stocks
When people learn that I am an income investor it is not uncommon for them to ask why I invest in stocks instead of other "safer" alternatives such as bonds, high yield money market accounts [MMA] or certificates of deposits [CD]. I generally start with my short answer of, "Dividend stocks have a secret ingredient that makes them a much more desirable investment."

In the early days, to make ends meet George continued to trade in hides, eggs, wool, and poultry. Joining George in November 1891 was his 14 year old youngest brother, Benjamin. Defined-Benefit Pension Plus Dividend Stocks For A Prosperous Retirement
This year I turned 50, and I now find myself thinking about, and planning for, retirement much more than in the past. I have long since resolved that social security will not provide for my needs in retirement (nor was it ever intended to). Fortunately, I am one of an ever-shrinking group that is still covered by a defined benefit pension plan. So, how should a pension fund figure into my retirement?

Dividend Income Progress Update - October 2012
Once again it is time for a goals/progress update. I am pleased to report that annualized dividend income increased in October, extending the streak to 28 consecutive months of increases after June 2010's decline. Since I began publicly tracking annualized dividend income in November 2007, it has increased in 57 of the last 59 months.
My goals were defined in this December 1, 2007 Investing Goals post and last updated in my 2012 Investing Goals post. Below is an updated version of the table found in the original post.

This Stock Has Raised Its Dividend For An Astounding 56 Consecutive Years
56 years is a long time to do anything. In 1956 (56 years ago) a new car cost around $2,050. The U.S. population was 169 million and the world population was at 2.8 billion. A gallon of gas in U.S. cost 22 cents, while a loaf of bread cost 18 cents. Gold was $35 an ounce and silver was 90 cents an ounce. You could mail a letter first class for just 3 cents.

5 Dividend Stocks To Buy And Hold, Not Buy And Forget
Over the years, I have observed that there are many ways to earn a good return in the market. In addition to buy and hold, some have successfully used various forms of market timing including sector rotation, momentum investing, technical analysis, et. al. Given a person's unique makeup, not all strategies will work for everyone. At the same time, I believe all strategies will fail if the investor is not committed to their selected strategy over the long term.

8 Dividend Stocks Heating Up Their Yields
Dividends from a quality, well-diversified portfolio are much more predictable than capital gains and best of all, they are passive. You don't have to do anything, they just show up in your brokerage account each quarter. Inflation? Not to worry, the good companies routinely raise their dividends well in excess of the inflation rate.
