The difference between an income investor and a dividend growth investor is time and the understanding of how compound growth works. If you are 67 years old and need income today, you will likely select a different group of stocks than an enlightened 27 year old that doesn't necessarily need the income today. The 27 year old has the luxury of time to grow a superior yield, while the 67 year old may be forced to assume additional risk to buy a higher current yield.

How to Find Dividend Investing Opportunities Using Trend Following Strategies
This is a guest post by Jeremy J. McNeil. Many of you may remember Jeremy as the original Dividend Guy. He was also one of the founding members of DIV-Net. In this article Jeremy will share his new approach on selecting stocks.
Introduction
As a dividend investor, I used to buy dividend stocks with very little consideration of price. The thinking was that a good dividend growth stock was always going to rise in price over the long term.

5 Stocks Building Future Yield With Higher Dividends
As a young investor I followed an aggressive growth strategy. Having narrowly missed the tech bubble bursting, I purchased my first dividend stock on December 11, 2003. I had heard dividend investments were supposed to be safer, but knew very little else about the strategy. I was fortunate enough to accidentally buy enough good dividend stocks learn the “secret” of dividend investing. It is not necessarily starting with a high-yield investment, but ending up with a high-yield investment. This usually occurs by buying stocks with a moderate yield and a long history of growing dividends and letting time do its job.

Why Dividend Growth Stocks Are Evil
I can't carry on anymore. The secret has become too much of a burden and it must be shared with the masses. This will shock some and enrage others, but it must be said, and I should be the one to say it. Dividend stocks are evil and they will eventually lead to the collapse of western civilization as we know it. There, I said it and here is why I believe it...

August 2015 Progress Report
Once again it is time for a goals/progress update. I am pleased to report that annualized dividend income increased in August, extending the streak to 35 consecutive months of increases. As noted in the June 19, 2015 post, in July 2015 I changed to reporting on total dividend income instead of just income from my Dividend Growth Portfolio.
Since I began tracking my total income progress in September 2012, annualized dividend income has increased in 35 of the last 35 months.

Building Yield: 7 Consumer Goods Dividend Stocks
Demand for household and personal care products is generally stable and not affected by changes in the economy or other factors. There are certain things people will continue to purchase no matter how bad the economy gets. If you lose your job, you probably won’t stop bathing, washing your clothes, brushing your teeth or stop buying toilet paper. Given the relatively low price of most consumer goods, consumers often prefer to pay a few pennies more for a name brand that they are confident with.
