To ensure a retirement that is free from financial concerns, there are certain things that must be done today. The stock market does not travel in a straight line. Those with clear goals and confidence in their chosen strategy aren't fazed by these market movements. Building a secure future by investing in quality dividend growth stocks is neither complicated nor overly burdensome.

Below are several companies that have recently increased their cash dividends to shareholders:


TELUS Corporation (TU) is a telecommunications company that provides a range of telecommunications services and products, including wireless and wireline voice and data. November 4th the company increased its quarterly dividend 4.3% to C$0.48 per share. The dividend is payable January 3, 2017 to stockholders of record on December 9, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of December 7, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 4.5%.

B&G Foods, Inc. (BGS) manufactures, sells and distributes a diverse portfolio of shelf-stable and frozen food, and household products across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. November 4th the company increased its quarterly dividend 11% to $0.465 per share. The dividend is payable January 30, 2017 to stockholders of record on December 30, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of December 28, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 4.5%.

Westrock Company (WRK) is a provider of packaging solutions and manufactures containerboard and paperboard. November 4th the company increased its quarterly dividend 6.7% to $0.40 per share. The dividend is payable November 30, 2016 to stockholders of record on November 21, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 17, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 3.4%.

The Blackstone Group L.P. (BX) is a global alternative asset manager that includes investment vehicles focused on private equity, real estate, hedge fund solutions, non-investment grade credit, secondary funds and other multi-asset class strategies. November 3rd the partnership increased its quarterly distribution 14% to $0.41 per unit. The distribution is payable November 14, 2016 to unitholders of record on November 7, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 3, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 6.9%.

KLA-Tencor Corporation (KLAC) is a supplier of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related nanoelectronics industries. November 3rd the company increased its quarterly dividend 3.8% to $0.54 per share. The dividend is payable December 1, 2016 to stockholders of record on November 15, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 10, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 2.9%.

Oaktree Capital Group, LLC (OAK) is a global investment manager specializing in alternative investments. November 3rd the company increased its quarterly dividend 12% to $0.65 per share. The dividend is payable November 17, 2016 to stockholders of record on November 7, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 3, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 6.6%.

AllianceBernstein Holding L.P. (AB) provides research, investment management and related services to a range of clients through three buy-side distribution channels, institutions, retail and private wealth management, and its sell-side business, Bernstein Research Services. Spectra Energy Partners, L.P. (SEP) is engaged in the transmission, storage and gathering of natural gas, the transportation and storage of crude oil, and the transportation of natural gas liquids (NGLs). The distribution is payable November 29, 2016 to unitholders of record on November 14, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 9, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 6.3%.

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. (EL), is a manufacturer and marketer of skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. November 2nd the company increased its quarterly dividend 13% to $0.34 per share. The dividend is payable December 15, 2016 to stockholders of record on November 30, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 28, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 1.6%.

Emerson Electric Co. (EMR) is engaged in offering technology and engineering together that provides solutions for customers in industrial, commercial, and consumer markets around the world. November 1st the company increased its quarterly dividend 1.1% to $0.48 per share. The dividend is payable December 9, 2016 to stockholders of record on November 11, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of November 9, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 3.7%.

Chimera Investment Corporation (CIM) is a real estate investment trust that is primarily engaged in the business of investing, on a leveraged basis, in a diversified portfolio of mortgage assets. October 31th the company increased its quarterly dividend 13% to $0.55 per share. The dividend is payable December 30, 2016 to stockholders of record on December 15, 2016, with an ex-dividend date of December 13, 2016. The yield based on the new payout is 6.5%.
